Rachel Blanchard

Rachel Blanchard was born on March 19, 1976, in Toronto, Ontario. She attended high school in Havergal College in Toronto, and then later to Queens University where she dropped out shortly after she got offered the role of Cher Horowitz for the television series of Clueless.

Rachel Blanchard went to Los Angeles after to spend some time in high schools so she could immerse herself in the character she would be portraying. Her part in Clueless would later serve as the launching pad for many of her future US movies. Rachel Blanchard got into acting early; with her first stint in television being a McDonald’s commercial as a child, as well as starring in Canadian children’s show The Kids of Degrassi Street. Other Canadian shows she has starred in include The Campbells, Glory Enough for All, and On My Own. Her career was launched with a part in a McDonald’s commercial, and as an eight-year-old on the Canadian children’s show The Kids of Degrassi Street, where she played Melanie Schlegel. She also starred in War of the Worlds as Suzanne McCullough’s daughter Debi and in Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? as Kristen. Blanchard is probably best known for playing the part of Cher Horowitz on the television series Clueless based on the 1995 movie of the same name. She received critical acclaim for her performance in the award-winning second series of British sitcom Peep Show. She reprised this role in the fourth series (2007).

She has also acted for many big US movies and alongside known actors in her roster of films, such as sequel to the horror cult classic The Rage: Carrie 2 in 1999, Road Trip in 2000 with Tom Green, Brekin Meyer, and Sean William Scott; Sugar and Spice in 2001 with Marley Shelton and Mena Suvari; Without a Paddle in 2004 with Seth Green, Matthew Lillard and Dax Shepard; and with Samuel L. Jackson on Snakes on the Plane in 2006. Rachel Blanchard also starred in 7th Heaven as a new addition, and lasted for 40 episodes from 2002-2004. Aside from the silver screen and television shows, Rachel Blanchard has also dabbled in indie films, such as Wild Dogs and Nailed. She has also appeared in the music video for Maroon 5’s song Sunday Morning.
