Fred Funk is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour.

Funk is a graduate of the University of Maryland where he earned a degree in law enforcement.  In 1981 he turned professional; however, he went back to his university to become the golf coach from 1982 to 1988.  It was in 1989 that Fred became a member of the PGA Tour.

From 1992 onwards, he won a number of tournaments but was never considered to be one of the top stars.  However, he did reach the top 20 on the career money list.  He was a member of the U.S. team at the 2003 and 2005 Presidents Cup and the 2004 Ryder Cup.

Today, Funk has become eligible for Champions Tour events and has committed to play in the 2006 U.S. Senior Open.  When he turned 50 in June 2006, he was ranked in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings.

Fred has always been a popular player on tour and even has his own fan base, calling themselves "Funk’s Punks." He currently resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
