Kelly Clarkson made her debut after she won the first season of the TV reality series, American Idol. In 2002, RCA Records marketed Kelly as a pop musician with her first album ‘Thankful’. This record provided her first and only U.S. number-one single. After the show, Clarkson also participated in the film "From Justin to Kelly".
In order to distance herself from the show’s image, the artist took more creative control, developing a rock-oriented image for her second album ‘Breakaway’.The album produced four U.S. top-ten singles.
Clarkson was also awarded two Grammys for this record. Clarkson has also begun writing and composing songs for her upcoming album, which she will release in 2007.
